After a week of almost comatose nothingness I had to do a bit of a dash around Hong Kong yesterday, first to the Vietnam embassy to collect my passport, of course, they had to make it difficult for me and gave me exact dates to be in Vietnam, from the 10/11 to the 10/12 so that is going to limit my time in Shanghai, which probably isn't a bad thing, because I find that my attention span wanes after about 72 hours anywhere. Then I dashed back to the hotel and had to wait for people to get off the net so that I could get on the net to get the address phone number and general details of my Shanghai hotel ... I had just sat down when this German guy came over to me, Voo are vinished! I looked at him, Nope, Voo need to be visihed, I need internet!, Whatever so I printed out my details and left. There have been so many times on this journey that I have wanted to do that, especially when the person is just surfing or playing games, but I just don't have the guts. You have to love those Germans. The train station people told me to be there 45 minutes before the train left so I got there at about 1, the train wasn't leaving till 15.07 but I needed to be on the safe side.
Now I have a confession to make, I went to MacDonalds mainly, because I had some credit left on my octopus card which I wanted to use, and while sitting there I heard that my train was delayed. big deal, one would think, but not to the Honkers ...

where apparently to have a train running two hours late is a really is a big deal, someone should tell Irish rail about this. The reporter tried to interview me, but I had just realised that I had been walking around all day with my t-shirt inside out, and had no make-up on. I told her with a bit of a snarl that I didn't care about the delay as I was in no big hurry to get anywhere!
I caught the train eventually and shared with a really sweet Chinese couple and their son, they all including the four year old, spoke perfect English, having lived in Singapore for the past 8 years. The little boy was so cute ...

My hotel in shanghai has to be seen to be believed. I had booked myself into a 5* place for about 90Eur a night, but then i read about this place,
http://www.pujianghotel.com/ it's the oldest hotel in China, it's just amazing. My room is about three times larger than the oriental in Hong Kong, and get this Albert Einstein stayed here in this room back in 1922, I mean how cool is that? The hotel is only rated a 3* which is strange, I feel like a movie star!
